Today we are preparing Hot Honey Coleslaw. If you ever read this blog, you know that we do not subscribe to the theory of complex ingredients and time-consuming preparation is better. In fact, we seek out the simple, easy and tasty recipes. Our Hot Honey Coleslaw recipe is easy to make and perfect for summer.
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 3 tbsp. honey. For this recipe, we like to use Basswood Honey. Basswood has a floral aroma and a very distinct flavor, so it enriches the flavor complexity of this simple dish. Of course, you could also use wildflower honey.
- 1 tsp. of your favorite hot sauce. For this recipe recommend Bee Sting Honey Habanero. This is an Asian/Thai influenced sweet-hot pepper sauce that pairs nicely with the honey based ingredients of this recipe and is not too hot for those who like to keep the heat scale in check!
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pkg Dole Angel Hair Coleslaw – you can purchase this at any major grocer in the produce section (it’s just shredded cabbage)
- Mix first 5 ingredients and pour over slaw.
- Mix well and serve
I can’t eat pulled pork without coleslaw. It is summer in Florida and we are using the smoker every chance we get. So, we paired this coleslaw with some mustard based pulled pork.
