Dave’s Gourmet Whole Ghost Peppers Review

Dave's Whole Ghost Peppers
Today our good friend Andrew is reviewing Dave’s Gourmet Whole Ghost Peppers. Dave’s Gourmet is well known in fiery food circles. It was started by Dave Hirschkop while he owned a small restaurant/bar back in the 1990’s. Dave realized that giving “drunk” patrons very hot foods tended to “quite them down“. As a result, Dave created Dave’s Insanity Sauce and most folks know the rest of the story. Dave’s Gourmet has become a powerhouse in the hot sauce industry. In this video review, we will cover aroma, flavor, texture and of course heat level. These are whole ghost peppers with ingredients of: Naga Jolokia Peppers (Ghost Peppers), Water, Salt, Acetic Acid, Garlic and Citric Acid.

Ghost Peppers clock in at over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units and are known by different names in different circles: Bhut Jolokia Pepper, Naga Jolokia Pepper, Ghost Chili Pepper and Ghost Pepper. Just how hot is 1,000,000 Scoville Units? It is more than 400 times hotter than the infamous Tabasco Sauce. When ripe, the peppers are a beautiful red color and larger than habanero peppers.

Ghost Peppers

The Ghost Pepper originates in India from the states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. It is said that farmers in India put Ghost Peppers on the top of fence posts to prevent elephants from crashing through their fences.

Watch our video review and learn about what everyone has been talking about with respect to the incredible heat and flavor the famous Ghost Pepper.

Dave’s Whole Ghost Peppers are available at Armadillo Pepper.

    Hi Lani,

Thanks for the feedback. You are exactly right about it being a creeper. We received some new Ghost Pepper salsa this past week. I tried it on a couple of chips and thought not that hot, but great flavor. I had a few more chips and the next thing I knew there was a great burn going on!

  3. Jeff says:

That is my experience as well!
