Moruga Madness Hot Sauce Review

Moruga Madness Hot Sauce

Today we are reviewing CaJohns Moruga Madness Hot Sauce made with Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Peppers. As most folks know the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is the world’s hottest pepper at over 2,000,000 Scoville Units.

At first glance it’s obvious that some thought was put into the label. In fact, CaJohns went to the well-known rock art designers, EngineHouse13 to design the label. A striking set of bright red, yellow, orange and blue colors define a large set of wings connected by a Moruga Scorpion pepper in the center. Rising from the scorpion pepper are large flames.

The full ingredients are vinegar, Trinidad Moruga scorpion chiles, sugar, salt, garlic, black pepper, chile caribe, trinidad moruga powder, lemon extract, spices.

Upon opening the bottle, you can immediately smell the garlic and vinegar followed by the aroma of chiles. The consistency is more on the thin side (vs. a thick, chunky sauce).

At first taste, you will get a tang from the vinegar followed by some sweetness from the sugar and then a combination of black pepper and the Moruga scorpion. This hot sauce will pair well with tacos, burritos, fried chicken or in any application where you would typically use a Louisiana style hot sauce.

For most folks Moruga Madness Hot Sauce will rate 8.5 to 9 on the heat scale. For those who regularly enjoy high heat sauces, heat level may be closer to 7.5 out of 10. For our complete review, see the video below.
