Huntington Classic Series 3-Burner (40,000-BTU) Propane Gas Grill Review

Huntington Classic Grill

Today I am reviewing the Huntington Classic Series 3-Burner (40,000-BTU) Propane Gas Grill with Side Burner. We don’t typically do hardware reviews, but sometimes you come across something so good that you just want to share. In the interest of full disclosure, we do not sell these grills. The manufacturer did not provide us with a grill to review. We have no relationship with the seller or manufacturer.

We’ve been looking for a new grill for several weeks. Everything we found within our budget tended to have average reviews at best. We decided to stop by Lowe’s to take a quick look and came across the Huntington Classic Series 3-Burner Propane Grill.

A brief overview of the specifications/features are:

  • 40,000 BTU stainless steel burner system
  • 10,000 BTU stainless steel side burner
  • 635 sq. in. total cooking surface including porcelain coated warming rack
  • 400 sq. in. primary cooking area
  • Porcelain coated cast iron cooking grids
  • 3 stainless steel tube burners
  • Electronic ignition system
  • Built-In thermometer
  • Stainless steel control panel
  • Black painted steel side shelves with integrated tool hooks and condiment bins

While in the Lowe’s store they have a QR code so you can scan each grill and read the reviews. This was the first grill we found that had over 50 reviews with a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. Then we did a quick search on the internet using our friend Google and found all positive feedback. So…..we closed the deal! Also, Lowe’s assembles the grill at no extra cost (in our case they had one in the back, so there was no waiting).

I brought this grill home for just under $300.00, loaded it up and stopped by the local market on the way home to purchase some rib-eye steaks and corn on the cob. The first step was to season the steaks with Tennessee Whiskey Steak and Burger Seasoning.

Seasoned Ribeye Steaks

While the steaks were resting with the seasoning we unloaded the grill, removed and retired the old 3-burner Weber (it had served us well, but rust had finally claimed the best of her) and then hooked up our new Huntington Classic outside in the Florida rain.

It couldn’t have taken more than 5 minutes to hook it up and remove the protective material that was sticking on all of the stainless (to keep it from getting scratched during transport). To prepare the grill for first-time use, you just remove the grates and wash while firing up the grill and letting it burn for 20 minutes (set on medium) with the lid closed. It has an electronic ignition system, so you just turn on a burner, press the button and hold and like magic the grill lights.

With three steaks and six ears of corn you can see that there is still plenty of cooking surface to use. Of course steaks don’t take much time and we were ready to eat in about 10 minutes or so (I know, but my son has to have medium-well).

As a product slowly goes bad like our old Weber (burners rusting, grates that had been replaced rusting and the) it is sometimes difficult to associate the declining quality of the grilled products. The last few times I grilled with the Weber the family would comment that the food was not that great. It did not cook evenly and parts of thegrate came off during cooking. I am not knocking our old Weber. It served us well, but it’s retirement time had come. When we all sat down to eat our first meal made on the Huntington Classic, everyone simply asked, “Dad, when can you grill again. This is really good”.

One occurrence is not enough to draw conclusions, but we are off to a great start with our new Huntington Classic. If you are looking for a new, budget-minded gas grill, then I recommend you review what people are saying about this grill. The reviews are very positive and for me, I give it a 5 out of 5.
